8 AAC 77.005. Elevator safety standards code

(a) The minimum elevator safety standards applicable to elevators in the state are set out in the 1996 edition of the Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators (ASME A17.1), published by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, excluding Part V, Private Residence Elevators; Part X, Routine, Periodic, and Acceptance Inspections and Tests, Section 1001.1, Inspection and Test Periods; Part XIV, Dumbwaiters With Automatic Transfer Devices and Material Lifts; Part XX, Inclined Stairway Chairlifts and Inclined and Vertical Wheelchair Lifts, Section 2002, Inclined Stairway Chairlifts; Part XXI, Private Residence Inclined Stairway Chairlift and Inclined and Vertical Wheelchair Lifts; and Part XXII, Shipboard Elevators.

(b) Repealed 12/17/99.

(c) The requirements of Part XXIV, Elevator Safety Requirements for Seismic Risk Zone II or Greater, of the Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators, adopted by reference in (a) of this section, does not apply to private residence elevators.
