Section 30. Review procedures

18 AAC 66.030. Review procedures

(a) Applications received under this chapter will be reviewed by a committee consisting of three persons appointed by the commissioner of the department and two persons appointed by the commissioner of the Department of Education and Early Development.

(b) The department will group the applications received in the following categories:

(1) elementary schools;

(2) junior high schools;

(3) senior high schools; and

(4) any combination of (1) through (3) of this subsection.

(c) The committee will evaluate and rank each application in each group for

(1) originality;

(2) adaptability and usefulness of program methods to other schools;

(3) environmental, economic, and health benefits;

(4) expected immediate and long-term reduction of waste;

(5) volume of waste prevented, reduced, or recycled;

(6) objectives, methods, and cost of the waste reduction or recycling activity; and

(7) other factors the committee considers important, based on other applications received in each group of applications.
