Section 85. Reports required

13 AAC 08.085. Reports required

(a) A driver who is involved in a motor vehicle accident which results in bodily injury or death or property damage to any one person in excess of $500 shall mail a written report to the department within 10 days from the date of the accident unless the accident was investigated by a police officer.

(b) The accident report must be mailed directly to the driver license headquarters, Department of Public Safety, P.O. Box N, Juneau, Alaska 99811, by the person who prepared the report.

(c) The report must be postmarked within 10 days from the date of the accident, except as provided in AS 28.35.080 (f).

(d) The department will require additional reports or information which, in its opinion, are necessary to properly process the report and determine the necessary action to be taken. The supplemental reports must be returned to the department within 14 calendar days from the date the request for the supplemental information was deposited in the mail by the department.
