12 AAC 52.490. Prescription drug orders transmitted by fascimile or digital electronic transmittal

(a) A pharmacist may dispense a prescription drug order transmitted by facsimile or digital electronic transmittal only if the prescribing practitioner or the prescribing practitioner's agent places the following information on the face of the prescription drug order before it is transmitted:

(1) name, address, and telephone number of the prescribing practitioner;

(2) signature of the prescribing practitioner or the prescribing practitioner's agent;

(3) the information required in 12 AAC 52.460(a) (1) - (8); and

(4) any other information required by federal law.

(b) A pharmacist may dispense a prescription drug order that the pharmacist has received by facsimile or digital electronic transmittal only when the prescription drug order is transmitted directly to a pharmacy by a prescribing practitioner or the prescribing practitioner's agent.
