Touch N' GoTM
The Electronic In and Out Board
Tips & Tricks
1. Make Touch N' Go a Telephone Extension Directory
You can make Touch N' Go do double duty as a telephone extension directory by putting in each person's phone extension when you add or edit Users.
2. Installing Workstations without the Installation Disk
A. Windows or Windows NT
- To set up the workstations, locate the file in file
manager and "drag" tng.exe to the group in Program
Manager from which the Workstation will run
Touch N' Go. Alternatively, the program can be run
on the workstations by running the program from file
manager.
- From Program Manager use File, New. Locate the file
tng.exe on the server using browse (or just enter the path
and click OK.
B. Windows 95
For Windows 95 you can use the Network Neighborhood browser.
Select the file TNG.EXE from where it is located on the
network and drag it to where you want it on the Workstation
computer. With Windows 95 you can drag it to the desktop.
3. Don't Maximize Screen
It has been discovered that if you maximize Touch N' Go(tm), and then try to perform various functions you will get a server error message (the server is actually fine). This will be corrected. However, until then there really is no reason to maximize the screen, so avoid it. If you do maximize the screen, use the double arrow (or the Windows 95 restore button) to restore the window to its normal size before implementing any functions. If you get the server error message, all you have to do is start the program again. No damage will have been done.
4. Windows 95 Issues.
- Old Access DLL
- Windows 95 may have an old Access DLL in its registry which will give you an incompatible database format message. To correct, copy the VDBD300.DLL that was installed in the directory where Touch N' Go was installed into the Windows 95 system directory. YOU SHOULD PROBABLY COPY OR RENAME THE ONE CURRENTLY THERE SO THAT YOU CAN GO BACK TO IT IF YOU NEED TO.
- Old VBX
- Windows 95 may have an old copy of vsvbx.vbx in its registry which will give
you a corrupt database message. To correct, copy the
VSVBX. VBX that was installed in the directory where Touch N' Go was
installed into the Windows 95 system directory. YOU SHOULD PROBABLY COPY OR RENAME THE ONE CURRENTLY THERE SO THAT YOU CAN GO BACK TO IT IF YOU NEED TO.
5. Use of Apostrophe's Prohibited for versions 1.1 & 1.2
Don't use apostrophes when entering or editing Users and Remarks if you do not yet have version
1.4!!! If you do so and are having problems, you have to reinstall the program. The current download is of Version 1.4 and no longers has this issue.
6. File Sharing with a LANtastic Network
If you are running a LANtastic network, vshare.386 needs to be implemented.
