Section 405. Review criteria

20 AAC 30.405. Review criteria

(a) The council will evaluate each application for a master artist and apprentice grant as set out in the guidelines and application form, adopted by reference in 20 AAC 30.983(5) , for a master artist and apprentice grant in traditional Native arts, and using the following criteria:

(1) the quality of the work of the master artist as demonstrated in the supporting materials required under 20 AAC 30.400(2) (C);

(2) the quality of the work of the apprentice, as demonstrated in the supporting materials required under 20 AAC 30.400(2) (C);

(3) the lesson plan required under 20 AAC 30.400(2) (B) for the apprenticeship;

(4) the budget list required under 20 AAC 30.400(2) (B) for the apprenticeship.

(b) In evaluating master artist and apprentice grant applications that qualify under (a) of this section,

(1) the council will place the highest priority on providing a grant for an application in which

(A) the apprentice proposes to study an art form within the apprentice's own cultural tradition; and

(B) the major part of the budget for the grant will be expended as the master artist's fee; and

(C) the art form to be studied is considered endangered; and

(2) among competing grant applications, the application of an applicant who has not received a master artist and apprentice grant from the council will be preferred over an applicant who has already received a master artist and apprentice grant.
