Section 6. Applicability

18 AAC 74.006. Applicability

The requirements of 18 AAC 74.005 - 18 AAC 74.120 apply to a

(1) public or private water or wastewater system that has 100 or more service connections;

(2) public or private water or wastewater system that is intended for use by 500 or more individuals per day; and

(3) Class A public water system with fewer than 100 service connections that is used or intended for use by fewer than 500 individuals per day and that the department has classified as a class I - class IV water system using the classification rating system in 18 AAC 74.120; the department will classify a public water system as a class I - class IV water system under this paragraph if the department determines that

(A) operation of the system involves a complex water treatment process, including coagulation, chemically-aided filtration, membrane filtration, and addition of chemicals to accomplish multiple water treatment techniques; and

(B) the class I - class IV classification is necessary to protect human health, safety, and welfare.
