Section 20. Application requirements

18 AAC 66.020. Application requirements

(a) On or before October 1 of each year that appropriations are available for awards under this chapter, the department will provide public notice of the availability of awards and will send an awards program application form to each public school in Alaska. The notice will include the total amount of money available and the projected number of awards to be granted from that total.

(b) On or before February 1 of each year that appropriations are available for awards under this chapter, a public school may apply for a waste reduction and recycling award on a form provided by the department. The application must include a detailed description of the waste reduction or recycling program at the public school, including

(1) objectives, methods, and estimated cost of the program;

(2) how the program contributes to waste reduction or recycling;

(3) the environmental benefits derived from the program;

(4) any economic, public health, or other benefits derived from the program;

(5) how the program might be used by other organizations in Alaska; and

(6) other information requested on the application form.

(c) To be considered for an award under this chapter, the waste reduction or recycling program must be ongoing at the public school. A proposed program will not be considered.
