18 AAC 32.670. Humane slaughter

The operator of a slaughtering facility shall ensure that reindeer are

(1) shot using a single shot to the head or neck by mechanical means, so that the reindeer will be immediately rendered unconscious with a minimum of excitement and discomfort before being shackled, hoisted, cast, or cut; for purposes of this paragraph, mechanical means includes captive bolt or gunshot;

(2) bled immediately after being stunned or killed.
