Section 20. Classification of traffic

17 AAC 70.020. Classification of traffic

For the purpose of applying rate charges, fares, and regulations, the following classifications will govern:

(1) passengers

(A) persons under six years of age;

(B) persons six years of age through 11 years of age;

(C) persons traveling as members of a bona fide youth group (age 18 or younger) properly supervised by persons who are age 19 or older;

(D) persons 65 years of age or older;

(E) persons not covered in categories (A) - (D) of this paragraph;

(2) vehicles

(A) passenger vehicles, including, but not limited to, station wagons, motorhomes, motorcycles, pickup-type trucks, when used as campers or for the transport of personal belongings;

(B) travel trailers, boat trailers, or utility trailers exclusively for personal use;

(C) truck units or combinations of tractor and trailer, used to transport freight or materials, of a size, weight and configuration that is in conformity with existing highway regulations;

(D) machinery on wheels, either self-propelled or towed, when equipped with rubber tired wheels, and in conformity with ferry system requirements as to size and weight;

(E) miscellaneous vehicles including, but not limited to, ambulances, hearses, buses and taxis;

(F) certain other articles, such as mobile homes, modular units mounted on running gear, when traveling on special highway permit, will be transported on a space-available basis subject to certain surcharges and special handling arrangements.
