Section 25. Property purchased

13 AAC 20.025. Property purchased

(a) All items that are purchased for search and rescue operations which are directly or indirectly to be paid for by the state under AS 18.60.120 - 18.60.175 and which are not used up during the search and rescue operation for which they were purchased become the property of the state at the time a claim for reimbursement is made and must be turned over to the department at that time.

(b) Reimbursement will not be approved for the purchase of any item which is unnecessarily or intentionally abused or damaged or which is negligently lost or misplaced.

(c) Reimbursement will not be approved for the purchase of an item if at the time of purchase the department had readily available like items which could have been obtained in a timely manner, unless a request was made to the department before the purchase and authorization for the expenditure was given.

(d) The department will, in its discretion, place items not used up in the care and custody of a recognized search and rescue organization. The authorized representative of the organization must sign a receipt for the property; he is responsible for the care and custody until the property is returned to the department or is used up during a search and rescue operation authorized by the department.
