Section 250. Driver improvement recommendations - Application by department

13 AAC 08.250. Driver improvement recommendations - Application by department

(a) In determining recommendations to a problem driver, the driver improvement specialist will consider and evaluate the following:

(1) accident potential posed by the problem driver;

(2) ability to adjust to situations;

(3) identification of driving problems;

(4) driver's willingness to try suggested corrective measures;

(5) pattern of violations and accidents.

(b) The driver improvement specialist may recommend any of the following actions:

(1) reexamination;

(2) successful completion of a driver improvement course; or

(3) other remedial action to improve the person's driving ability.

(c) Upon conclusion of a driver improvement interview, the specialist shall make findings on matters under consideration and shall prepare and submit recommendations to the problem driver. The recommendations must be signed in duplicate form by the specialist and signed by the problem driver. The original copy of the recommendations must be given to the problem driver and will be effective as the department's official recommendation in the matter.

(d) All recommendations must be supported by sufficient written explanation and reasoning.

(e) Repealed 12/1/78.
