Section 240. Driver improvement interview

13 AAC 08.240. Driver improvement interview

(a) When the department's records show that a person has accumulated a sufficient number of points to be identified as a problem driver, the department will, in its discretion, require the person to appear for an interview before a driver improvement specialist.

(b) Upon a determination that a person should appear for a driver improvement interview, the department will determine the time and place and will serve upon the person a written notice of the interview at least 15 days before the interview is to take place.

(c) The notice will inform the person that he or she has been identified, through point accumulation, as a problem driver and that if the person does not appear for the interview at the time and place specified or does not contact the department to request a delay, the person's driver's license will be suspended for one year or until he or she appears for the interview, whichever comes first.

(d) Whenever the department requires a problem driver under the age of 18 years to appear for a driver improvement interview, the department will, in its discretion, also request the appearance of the minor's parents, or either of them, or a legal guardian, or the person having custody of the minor driver.
