Section 200. Adult basic education grants

8 AAC 99.200. Adult basic education grants

(a) The Department of Labor and Workforce Development will in its discretion issue a competitive grant to a school district or other education organization to organize, plan, establish, expand, improve or maintain an adult basic education program.

(b) The Department of Labor and Workforce Development will, in its discretion issue a grant for a period of up to three years, subject to

(1) the availability of funding; and

(2) review under (d) of this section.

(c) For each year of the grant, an applicant shall submit an application and a plan of service.

(d) The Department of Labor and Workforce Development will select a grant review committee to review each application and recommend to the commissioner of labor and workforce development which applicants should receive an adult basic education grant.

(e) An applicant who has been denied an adult basic education grant may appeal that decision to the commissioner of labor and workforce development.
