Section 95. Take-home medication procedures

7 AAC 33.095. Take-home medication procedures

(a) A take-home medication procedure shall be developed to protect the lives and safety of children and other non-addicted persons, and prevent as much as possible diversion of methadone into illegal channels.

(b) Patients shall ensure that take-home supplies are packaged in a manner designed to reduce the risk of accidental ingestion, including the use of child-proof containers as required by 42 C.F.R. 8.12.

(c) In order to take home medication, patients must provide a locked container to transport the medication and keep it secure until ingested.

(d) A label bearing the name, address and telephone number of the facility as well as any other 24-hour telephone number to be used in case of emergency; the chemical, generic or common name "methadone" of the drug; the patient number and the warning "Poison, May be Fatal to Adult or Child, Keep out of reach of Children"; shall be affixed to take-home dosages in child-proof bottles.
