Section 55. Methadone staff requirements

7 AAC 33.055. Methadone staff requirements

(a) Each program shall provide sufficient and appropriate staff to accomplish the program goals, requirements, and stated treatment plans.

(b) The responsibilities and duties of each member of the staff shall be defined in the protocol.

(c) The program director shall submit protocols and reports to the department, and is responsible for the operation of the program, in compliance with this chapter. He is responsible for the supervision of non-physician therapists and counselors, and for instruction of the patient in his obligation to safeguard his take-home dose of methadone.

(d) Each program shall have a medical director who is a licensed physician. The medical director shall assume medical responsibility, by signed patient chart notes, for placing a patient on methadone and for alterations and termination of dosage.

(e) The protocol shall specify which types of staff will be used as therapists and counselors, and what their duties and responsibilities will be.
