Section 800. Laboratory service policy and procedure

7 AAC 12.800. Laboratory service policy and procedure

(a) A facility which provides laboratory services must have written policies and procedures for the laboratory services that are available.

(b) The policies and procedures must include standards for test procedures and collection of specimens, a quality control program which insures the medical and scientific reliability of laboratory data, a program that insures the availability of control test results and, in addition, provisions which set out

(1) accurate descriptions and instructions for all analytic methods and procedures to be performed in the laboratory;

(2) a preventive maintenance program to assure the accuracy and proper functioning of all equipment;

(3) a procedure for recording the daily temperature of controlled instruments; and

(4) a procedure for the labeling of all reagents and solutions to show the identity, titer, strength or concentration, recommended storage requirements, recommended preparation requirements, and expiration date.
