5 AAC 65.022. Special provisions for methods and means in the Alaska Peninsula and Aleutian Islands Area

(a) Unless otherwise provided by emergency order, issued under AS 16.05.060 , the special provisions regarding methods and means in this section apply to sport fishing in the Alaska Peninsula and Aleutian Islands Area.

(b) In the King Salmon River,

(1) except as provided in (2) of this subsection, a king salmon removed from the water becomes part of the bag limit of the person originally hooking it;

(2) downstream from an ADF&G regulatory marker located 1,000 yards upstream from its mouth,

(A) only unbaited, artificial lures may be used; and

(B) king salmon fishing is open only for catch and release fishing; king salmon may not be retained or removed from the water before releasing the fish.

(c) In the Sandy River, only unbaited, single-hook, artificial lures or artificial flies may be used from September 15 through May 31.
