5 AAC 65.020. Bag limits, possession limits, and size limits for Alaska Peninsula and Aleutian Islands Area

(a) Except as otherwise provided in this section, bag limits, possession limits, and size limits for finfish and shellfish in the Alaska Peninsula and Aleutian Islands Area are as follows:

    

    

SPECIES BAG, POSSESSION, AND SIZE LIMITS

    

    

(1) king salmon 3 per day, 3 in possession, only 2 daily and in possession 28 inches or greater in length; 5 fish annual limit. (2) other salmon 5 per day, 5 in possession, no size limit. (3) repealed 6/4/2004. (4) rainbow/steelhead 2 per day, 2 in possession, only 1 daily and in trout possession may be 20 inches or greater in length; annual limit of 2 fish 20 inches or greater in length, except in Anchorage Bay Runway Lake; harvest record required as specified in 5 AAC 65.024(b). (5) Arctic char/Dolly Varden 10 per day, 10 in possession, no size limit. (6) Arctic grayling 5 per day, 5 in possession, no size limit. (7) halibut 2 per day, 4 in possession, no size limit. (8) lingcod 2 per day, 4 in possession, no size limit. (9) rockfish 10 per day, 20 in possession, no size limit. (10) shark 1 per day, 1 in possession, no size limit; 2 fish annual limit. (11) king crab No retention allowed; all king crab caught must be released immediately. (12) Tanner crab 6 per day, 6 in possession, male crab only; 5.5 inches minimum carapace width, including spines. (13) Dungeness crab 12 per day, 12 in possession, male crab only; 6.5 inches minimum carapace width, not including spines. (14) other finfish/shellfish No bag, possession, and size limits. not specified in this subsection.

(b) Repealed 6/4/2004.

(c) In the salt waters and all freshwater drainages of Unalaska Bay, excluding the Illiuliuk River drainage, the bag and possession limit for salmon, other than king salmon, is five fish per day, five in possession, of which no more than two fish may be coho salmon and two fish may be sockeye salmon.

(d) In the Sandy River drainage, rainbow/steelhead trout may not be retained. A rainbow/steelhead trout caught in the Sandy River drainage must be released immediately.
