5 AAC 31.005. Registration areas established; registration of vessels

(a) Shrimp registration areas and code letters are:

Code Letter

A - Southeastern Alaska Area (5 AAC 31.100)

D - Yakutat Area (5 AAC 31.150)

E - Prince William Sound Area (5 AAC 31.200)

H - Cook Inlet Area (5 AAC 31.300)

G - Outer Cook Inlet Area (5 AAC 31.400)

J - Westward Area (5 AAC 31.500) .

(b) The board will designate each registration area, or portion of a registration area, or fishery by gear type in a registration area, or fishery by gear type in a portion of a registration area, as one of the following:

(1) exclusive registration area: unless otherwise provided in this chapter, a vessel used to fish for shrimp that has been validly registered to take shrimp in a shrimp exclusive registration area may not be used to take shrimp in another shrimp exclusive registration area during the same registration year; or

(2) nonexclusive registration area: during the same registration year, a vessel used to fish for shrimp may be registered to take shrimp in one or more of the shrimp nonexclusive registration areas and registered to take shrimp for one shrimp exclusive registration area, but may not be used to take shrimp in more than one shrimp exclusive registration area.
