5 AAC 28.053. Observers

The operator of a vessel that is registered with the National Marine Fisheries Service to fish in a federal groundfish fishery, that is fishing in state waters of Alaska, and that is being used to take any groundfish species managed under a federal fisheries management plan (FMP) that applies to the area in which the fishing is occurring and that requires onboard observers, must comply with the December 30, 1997 federal onboard observer requirements in 50 C.F.R. 679.50 for the Gulf of Alaska, Bering Sea, and Aleutian Islands.
